WhatsApp Unveils AI-Powered Message Summaries

• WhatsApp has introduced an AI-powered feature called "Message Summaries" to help users quickly catch up on unread messages in private and group conversations.

• The feature provides a brief summary of missed messages instead of scrolling through individual messages.

• The feature uses Meta's "Private Processing" tech, ensuring that Meta, WhatsApp, and third parties cannot access your content.

• Summaries are private, visible only to you, and no one else in the chat is notified that this feature was used.

• The feature is optional and off by default, but can be enabled via settings or disabled using Advanced Chat Privacy.

• Currently, it's only available in English for users in the United States, with plans to expand support to more countries and languages later this year.

• Despite its potential, concerns remain about privacy and accuracy, similar to Apple's AI message recaps.

• The feature is currently limited to U.S. English users, but a global rollout is expected by year-end.
